Thank you for sharing with me! My students and I are engaged and excited to learn whenever you teach! I so appreciate your math approach for several reasons. 1. You are giving us a routine. (Can you resend me your list? Monday- mental math, Tuesday- Tacos?)
My type A personality and students of all types rejoice! 2. You are giving us a slow roll-out if the plan. We all want to do what’s best for students, but doing it all at once is overwhelming and, in reality, impossible for students and teachers alike. 3. It is fun! Thank you for reminding me why I teach and students why they learn.
Lastly, and this is prideful but honest, thank you for always saying, “you probably already do this”, and “in addition to what you already are doing”. As a teacher of 18 years, and someone who dedicates my life to teaching kids (who are not my flesh and blood) our “new curricular plans” are often top down and fail to acknowledge that we are sweating blood researching, planning, and teaching in real time. I often feel I am being told what to do by people who don’t know what I’m already doing. Your visits to my classroom and just your words mentioned above give me the pat on the back that I need and the motivation to keep chugging along in my life’s passion- teaching humans to be the best they can be.
Thank you for what you do!
